Hey, I'm Hayley. I've spent years photographing proposals across Vancouver Island, and I've watched enough of them to know exactly what makes a moment unforgettable versus 'just okay.' Now I plan them too!
I've been the quiet person in the background for countless proposals, close enough to watch every single one unfold. I've seen people freeze up, forget where to stand, open the ring box upside down, and run into setup mix-ups with friends or vendors trying to help. I've seen what makes a location feel wrong the second you arrive.
That's the part I bring into the planning now, not just where to stand for the photo, but how the whole moment actually goes: the timing, the wording, the way you get down on one knee so it feels natural instead of rehearsed.
