Angela and Vincent’s love story didn’t just unfold in a single day. One day, everything clicked. During hard times, they turned to each other, bringing out the best in one another. Realizing they had found someone they could trust to build a forever with.
In August of 2024, I was asked to capture their love story in a beachy golden hour engagement session at Saratoga Beach that took my breath away. A year later, I joined them on a mountaintop in one of the most unforgettable helicopter elopements on Vancouver Island. As a Vancouver Island helicopter elopement photographer, these full-circle moments mean everything.
If there’s one thing their story explains perfectly, it’s this:
When you feel truly comfortable with your photographer, everything changes.

Their first session together took place on a warm August evening at Saratoga Beach.
Soft light. Calm water. That quiet kind of West Coast beauty that’s undeniable.
Like so many couples, Angela and Vincent showed up feeling a little unsure in front of the camera at first. It’s something almost everyone expresses privately to me. That initial “what do we do with our hands?” feeling. I assured them that my goal is to capture their connection naturally. Instead of forcing something, I guide couples with prompts or little tasks/activities that keep them thinking about each other, not the camera.

Angela and Vincent understood their assignment! With gentle direction, thoughtful prompts, and a lot of laughter, I created space for them to relax into the moment. Nothing forced. Nothing overly posed. Just the two of them, being themselves.
And by the end of that session? They weren’t thinking about the camera anymore. They were just present with each other.

What happened next wasn’t a coincidence. After receiving their engagement photos, Angela and Vincent didn’t just love how they looked; they loved how the experience felt. So when they decided to have a mountaintop helicopter elopement on Vancouver Island, they didn’t even think twice about who to call to capture it. They wanted that same feeling again.
Because when you already trust a photography and videography team to capture your connection in an authentic, natural way, you:

Fast forward to August 2025.
Instead of sand beneath their feet, Angela and Vincent found themselves stepping out onto a mountaintop after arriving by helicopter, surrounded by endless views, soft layers of mountains, and the quiet that only exists in the clouds, high above everything else.

This wasn’t just an elopement. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, intentionally designed from start to finish.
With two helicopters bringing them to their location, there were moments not just on the mountain — but in the air — adding a completely different layer of storytelling to their day.
And this is where the creativity of an experienced, high-end photography and videography team shines in a completely different way.

Every frame of Angela and Vincent’s mountaintop elopement was approached with intention:
Nothing cookie-cutter. Everything tailored to them.

One of the most beautiful parts of this story isn’t just the location or the experience. It’s the transformation.
From:
To:
By the time their elopement day arrived, there was no hesitation. No second-guessing. Just trust.
That trust is what allows real emotion to come through in photos and videos. The kind of raw emotion that brings you right back to how the day felt, even 30+ years into the future, when you bring out the photo album to show your grandkids.

“We hired Hayley for our engagement shoot last year, and it was a no brainer to hire her for our elopement.
She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera… everything flowed so nicely. She kept things light and funny, and it helped us come out of our shell more.
The first time we saw our elopement photos, we were instantly transported back to that day. Every beautiful moment was captured. We’re so happy with them and will treasure them for the rest of our days.”

If you’re searching for a Victoria BC Wedding Photographer or a Wedding Photography and Videography Team who will not only capture your day, but truly understand your story, let’s connect.
Because the most meaningful photos and films don’t just document a moment. They bring you back to how it felt.
A helicopter elopement on Vancouver Island is a unique wedding experience where you’re flown to a remote mountain or scenic location for your ceremony. It allows couples to exchange vows in a completely private, breathtaking setting that feels adventurous, intimate, and truly unforgettable.
Planning a helicopter elopement typically involves working with a local helicopter company, as Angela and Vincent did with 49 North Helicopters, securing any required permits, and building a flexible timeline around weather conditions. When you work with an experienced Vancouver Island Wedding Photography and Videography Team, you’ll also receive guidance on timing, locations, and how to make the most of your experience both in the air and on the ground.
Yes! I have a Victoria BC Wedding Photo & Video Team, offering both high-end photography and cinematic wedding films. This allows your entire day to be documented seamlessly, with a cohesive style and storytelling approach from start to finish.
Absolutely! Working with the same Victoria BC Wedding Photographer for both your proposal/engagement session and wedding/elopement creates a more comfortable, natural experience. You’ll already feel at ease in front of the camera, which allows your photos to feel more authentic, emotional, and effortless on the day itself. It also allows for cohesion in the imagery or film that is hard to match when working with different professionals for different life celebrations. For this reason, most of my wedding packages include an engagement session in the overall experience.
Vancouver Island offers an incredible range of elopement locations, from coastal beaches like Saratoga Beach to remote mountain landscapes accessed by helicopter. The best location depends on your vision. Ask yourselves: are you drawn to ocean views, forest settings, or high-elevation scenery for a more adventurous experience?
For unique experiences like helicopter elopements, it’s important to work with a photographer who is adaptable, experienced in changing environments, and able to capture both the landscape and the emotion of the day. A strong focus on storytelling, creativity, and calm direction ensures your photos feel natural while still capturing the full scale of your experience.
For peak wedding season on Vancouver Island, it’s recommended to book your photographer 8–18 months in advance, especially for unique experiences like helicopter elopements. Many couples choose to secure their Victoria BC Wedding Photographer and Filmmaker early so they can also plan engagement sessions and build a consistent experience leading up to their wedding day.
