There’s something extra special about couples who know how to celebrate each other—and Khalil and Emily are exactly that kind of couple.
When Khalil reached out to me, he had one clear goal in mind: to plan the most unforgettable proposal weekend for the love of his life. And let me tell you—it was perfect.
Not only did he plan a heartfelt proposal followed by a surprise party with family and friends, but he topped it off with a dreamy getaway in Victoria, BC. These two often escape the city for weekends away in Victoria, so it only made sense for them to return to one of their favorite places to soak in the joy of being newly engaged.
And as their Victoria BC engagement photographer, I had the absolute honor of capturing it all.
Why Victoria? Why Not.
Khalil surprised Emily with a stay at the iconic Oak Bay Beach Hotel—a luxury oceanfront property tucked away in one of Victoria’s most beautiful neighborhoods. With mineral pools along the Pacific Ocean, cozy robes, and stunning coastal views, it was the perfect place for them to slow down and be in the moment together.
The entire weekend was curated with intention. And to help capture that magic forever, Khalil booked an engagement session with me so they could document this season of their love—right as it was unfolding.
Willows Beach & Cattle Point: A Dreamy Engagement Session
For their photos, we chose Willows Beach and Cattle Point—two iconic Victoria spots that are quiet, scenic, and full of charm. Soft sand, driftwood, rugged rocks, and open ocean views—it’s the kind of setting that makes it easy to relax, be yourself, and forget the camera is even there.
And that’s exactly what I aim for as an engagement photographer in Victoria BC. I want your shoot to feel like a beautiful Sunday date—not a stiff photoshoot. I want you to laugh, play, connect, and move in ways that feel authentic to you.
That’s why I give couples direction with movement-based prompts rather than rigid posing. I want you to feel like you—comfortable, joyful, and totally in love.
During our shoot, Khalil and Emily danced along the shoreline, splashed in the waves, and took in every second of their post-engagement high. At one point, Khalil even pulled out the ring again and just smiled at her like he couldn’t believe this was real life. It was one of those quiet, powerful moments that I’ll never forget.
Bringing Their Vision to Life
Something I loved about this session was how collaborative it felt. Emily brought a few photo ideas she loved—and that’s always welcome with me. I have my signature shots and creative instincts, of course, but incorporating inspiration that feels meaningful to you makes the session even more personal.
Together, we built a gallery that included a beautiful mix of candid movement, emotional close-ups, and scenic wide shots that truly told the story of this chapter in their lives.
As a Victoria BC engagement photographer, I always say: the best images come from the in-between. The way he looks at her when she’s not looking. The moment you two laugh at something only you would find funny. That’s where the real magic is—and those are the memories you’ll want to relive again and again.
Why I Love Engagement Sessions Like This One
This shoot reminded me why I love what I do. Every couple is so different—and every session brings new energy. But at the core of it all is the same desire: to hold onto the way it all feels.
For Khalil and Emily, that meant joy. It meant calm, lighthearted beach walk with salty air and soft sand beneath their feet. It was also playful teasing, hand squeezes, and letting go of expectations so they could just be present together.
And that’s what I want for all my couples.
