Experience the magic of a vibrant summer wedding on Vancouver Island with this unforgettable garden wedding celebration. As a Victoria BC wedding photographer, I had the honor of capturing Jesse and Autumn’s wedding day at the beautiful Shamrock Farm, surrounded by blooming florals, vintage cars, and moments that felt both elevated and entirely personal. If you’re looking for natural, candid, and stunning wedding photography in Victoria, this wedding is full of inspiration.
Jesse and Autumn’s wedding day began in separate Airbnbs—each selected with intention. Autumn chose a bright, airy space with high ceilings and white walls, ensuring the morning light poured in beautifully for her bridal portraits. The atmosphere felt peaceful and calm, setting the tone for the day ahead. The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in soft tones of yellow, green, and blue, each one unique but beautifully cohesive with the natural setting and floral arrangements.
While the ladies popped champagne and shared laughs, Autumn had everything ready for flat lay photos—her rings, invitations, and heirloom jewelry. She then shared emotional first looks, first with her dad, and then her grandpa. These moments were private and tender, and you could see just how close-knit their family was. Meanwhile, Jesse got ready in a separate space with his groomsmen, and the energy was high and joyful. These morning hours always give me a chance to capture real emotion before the day gets underway—and both Airbnbs offered the perfect setting for these quiet but meaningful moments.

Before heading to the ceremony, Jesse and Autumn met for a first look in a local park, surrounded by towering trees and dappled light. The moment was full of laughter, hugs, and pure joy. As a Victoria BC wedding photographer, I always recommend first looks to couples who want more time together on their wedding day. It not only creates a calm, private moment before the whirlwind begins, but also gives us time to get portraits done early without rushing later in the day.
We moved seamlessly into wedding party photos. Their wedding party—made up of lifelong friends—was so fun to work with. Because we did these portraits before the ceremony, everyone was relaxed and could fully enjoy the rest of the day. Autumn’s dad and grandpa picked up the wedding party in their beloved vintage cars to bring them to the ceremony site—a personal detail that made the arrival feel cinematic.

The ceremony took place in the gardens of Shamrock Farm, a hidden gem on Vancouver Island. The entire space was dripping with lush florals—colorful, wild, and intentional. The floral arch created a breathtaking focal point, and the green orchard around them framed the scene perfectly. The couple walked down the aisle accompanied by both their parents—a beautiful, inclusive touch that made the moment even more meaningful.
Autumn and Jesse’s vows were heartfelt and moving. At one point, Autumn hugged Jesse mid-vow, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. As a wedding photographer in Victoria BC, I focus heavily on these raw emotional moments—not just between the couple, but from the parents and grandparents in the crowd. You could feel the love radiating from every direction.

After the ceremony, we stayed in the same garden to capture family portraits while everyone was present. I always start with grandparents first so they can go relax afterwards. Autumn and Jesse prioritized a list of family combinations, but also gave time for candid moments—like her laughing with her mom, or hugging her grandpa under the arbor. These in-between shots often end up being their favorites.
Meanwhile, the guests were ushered into the cocktail hour nearby while we snuck away for more couple portraits. We captured shots with the vintage cars, some champagne cheers, and even a few moody cigar portraits—this break in the timeline gave them breathing room before rejoining their guests.

Dinner was set up in an orchard beneath rows of twinkling lights, with long wooden tables and chairs blending seamlessly into the garden backdrop. 5th Street Florist and Shamrock Farm absolutely outdid themselves with the florals—each table arrangement felt like it had been foraged from the surrounding gardens. As guests mingled with cocktails and canapés, I documented every hug, every candid moment, and every little décor detail they worked so hard to plan.
Before dinner wrapped up, we stepped away for golden hour portraits. This is one of my favorite parts of the day—20 minutes of peace, connection, and the dreamiest light imaginable. Autumn and Jesse were glowing. It was emotional, romantic, and everything I love about photographing weddings on Vancouver Island.

Before dinner wrapped up, we snuck away for golden hour portraits. These 20 minutes were some of the most emotionally connected moments of the day. It’s the first time the couple had been alone since the morning, and you could feel the love and gratitude between them.
As a Victoria wedding photographer, I always build golden hour time into the timeline because the light is magic—and the energy is even better.
We also snapped some fun portraits with the vintage cars and a celebratory cigar moment with the groomsmen. Having this variety makes the final wedding gallery feel even more complete.

As the sun dipped below the trees, speeches began. Parents shared heartfelt stories, friends toasted to their adventures together, and laughter echoed through the orchard. At one point, the bride and groom were surprised with a slideshow of childhood photos—a nostalgic, joyful moment that brought guests even closer together.
Then came one of the most memorable moments of the night: both dads, who were specifically told not to wear plaid, reemerged from the barn in full plaid outfits, kilts and all, and performed a choreographed dance. Everyone was howling with laughter. It was unexpected, hilarious, and one of those moments I knew they’d talk about for years.
As the sky darkened, the string lights glowed above the dance floor. First dances flowed into group dances, and within minutes the entire guest list was on the dance floor, twirling beneath the stars. I stayed just long enough to document the full energy of the party—YMCA was playing, guests were waving glow sticks, and it felt like the perfect end to a truly perfect day.

After first dances and cake cutting, the DJ kicked off the party under a canopy of string lights. I stayed just a little longer to capture 15 more minutes of wild, joy-filled dancing—including a YMCA moment that had the floor packed.
The night ended with laughter, music, and a sense of full-circle celebration.
As a wedding photographer in Victoria BC, it’s days like these that remind me why I love what I do. Jesse and Autumn’s wedding had everything—intentional design, deep emotional connections, and joyful surprises. But more than that, they trusted me to not just take photos, but to guide them, create space for real moments, and document everything with care.
From their getting-ready moments in those bright Airbnbs to the laughter under the stars, this wedding was a dream to photograph. I feel incredibly lucky to have been part of it.
