Yes. Inn at Laurel Point is a waterfront wedding venue in downtown Victoria BC with harbour views, gardens with a reflecting pool and waterfall, modern architecture, and indoor and outdoor spaces for weddings of 2 to 200 guests. With 194 rooms and suites on site, it’s especially good for destination weddings, since your guests can stay right where the celebration happens. As a Victoria BC Wedding Photographer and Filmmaker, I love it for how much variety you get in one place, plus how close it is to iconic spots like the BC Parliament Buildings, the harbour, and more.
Here’s what I think couples should know before getting married at Inn at Laurel Point.

From a photographer’s perspective, it’s the combination of waterfront, gardens and architecture that makes the venue interesting. There are opportunities for all three.
It’s also a great fit for the kind of wedding I personally love photographing: elevated and beautiful without feeling overly formal. You can create a really high-end look here while still planning a day centred around actually spending time with the people you love.

I think this is one of the biggest advantages of getting married here.
A Vancouver Island destination wedding doesn’t necessarily have to mean asking everyone to travel to a remote resort. Inn at Laurel Point gives you the feeling of a destination celebration while putting your guests right in downtown Victoria BC.
The hotel has 194 rooms and suites, all with private balconies, so couples can potentially have many of their guests staying right where the wedding is happening.
And that’s important for more than convenience.

If you’re bringing your favourite people together from Vancouver, elsewhere in BC or across Canada, you probably don’t want to spend half your wedding day travelling between locations or coordinating transportation. Staying on-site means more opportunities for slow mornings with your wedding party, spontaneous moments with family and actually being present with the people who travelled to celebrate you.
You can also turn the wedding into more of a weekend experience. The Inn offers options for rehearsal dinners and post-wedding brunches, making it possible to spend more than just the wedding day together.
For me, that’s one of the best parts of a destination wedding: the wedding becomes more than a few hours. It becomes a memory everyone gets to experience together.

Yes. Couples can host both ceremonies and receptions at Inn at Laurel Point, with indoor and outdoor options available. The venue currently offers different wedding packages for larger celebrations, smaller weddings of up to 30 guests and intimate elopements.
Photographically, keeping everything in one place can make a huge difference to your timeline.
Instead of constantly watching the clock because you need to get into a vehicle and travel somewhere else, we can use those little pockets of time for photographs, quiet moments together or simply letting you get back to your guests.
That’s especially helpful if you’re planning a full wedding weekend in Victoria. You came all this way to celebrate with your people. I want you to actually get to be with them.

You have plenty of options without leaving the property.
The gardens, reflecting pool and waterfall are some of my favourites for adding greenery and movement to a gallery. The venue itself also specifically identifies its gardens, reflecting pond and waterfall as wedding photography locations.

Then there is the waterfront.
Being right on Victoria’s harbour gives us completely different scenery without requiring another major location change. I love being able to move between water, gardens and the clean architectural lines around the hotel because it creates a gallery that feels varied without turning your portrait time into an hours-long photoshoot.
The hotel’s glass architecture is another feature I love creatively. Reflections, lines and all that natural light can give your images a really modern, editorial feeling that contrasts beautifully with the softer gardens and waterfront.
And yes, sometimes I’m going to see a reflection or pocket of beautiful light that looks completely ordinary to you and get way too excited about it. Trust me on this one.

Absolutely not. There is enough variety at the Inn to create a beautiful wedding gallery without leaving the property.
But if you want iconic Victoria wedding photos too, this is where the downtown location becomes a huge advantage.
For example, I’ve taken a wedding party from Laurel Point into downtown Victoria for portraits around the BC Parliament Buildings. Historic architecture, grand stairs and stone columns create a completely different look from the waterfront and gardens back at the hotel.

That’s one of my favourite ways to build variety into a wedding gallery: not travelling just for the sake of having more locations, but intentionally choosing one additional location that gives us something we don’t already have.
We can build that into your wedding timeline together so you’re not sacrificing your entire cocktail hour for photos.

I almost always recommend considering a first look, although I will never push you into one if seeing each other at the ceremony is important to you.
The reason I love first looks has less to do with the photos themselves and more to do with what they can do for your wedding timeline.
Seeing each other earlier gives us the option of completing couple portraits and some or all of your wedding party photos before the ceremony. That can create significantly more breathing room later in the day.
At Inn at Laurel Point, you also have beautiful options for making that moment feel private and intentional. The garden and waterfall area can provide a completely different atmosphere from the waterfront celebration happening later.
For destination weddings in particular, I love anything that gives you more time with your guests and less time feeling rushed.

Getting ready at the hotel makes the beginning of the day incredibly easy from a photography and timeline perspective.
The Inn has a variety of rooms and suites, including larger options with separate living areas and balconies overlooking the water.

As a photographer, I’m comfortable working with whatever getting-ready space fits your plans. I’m looking for the best available light, meaningful interactions and all those little moments happening around you rather than trying to make your morning feel like a styled photoshoot.
Having everyone at the hotel also means we aren’t losing time moving between multiple addresses before the wedding has even begun.
Your morning can simply unfold while we document it.

This is one of the reasons I enjoy photographing here.
My work is heavily influenced by natural light, and Laurel Point gives us plenty to work with. Outside, there’s open sky, waterfront light, greenery and gardens. The property’s modern glass architecture can also create some really interesting opportunities for reflections and light.
That variety works beautifully with my style of wedding photography: true-to-colour, joyful and documentary-inspired, with an editorial and cinematic edge.
I’m not trying to make your wedding look like somebody else’s wedding. I want the photographs to feel elevated while still looking like your day.

Yes, particularly if you want your wedding film to feel unmistakably like Victoria.
Waterfront establishing shots, movement through the gardens, city views and modern architecture give a Victoria BC Wedding Filmmaker plenty of visual variety for storytelling.
This is also where hiring a Wedding Photography and Videography Team can be incredibly valuable. Photo and video aren’t competing for the same moments or independently trying to build two different timelines. We’re working together to capture the same story in two different ways.
The photographs let you return to individual moments. Your film brings back the voices, movement, laughter and atmosphere surrounding them.

Inn at Laurel Point currently accommodates weddings ranging from 2 to 200 guests.
Its wedding options include larger celebrations using spaces such as the Terrace Ballroom, Terrace Patio and Spirit Rooms, a smaller wedding package for up to 30 guests, and an intimate elopement option for the couple and up to 10 guests.
That makes the venue unusually flexible if you’re still deciding whether your Victoria destination wedding will be an intimate gathering or a larger celebration.
Packages and capacities can change, so I always recommend confirming the details for your date directly with Inn at Laurel Point before making plans around a particular space.

You don’t need a second photographer, but there are situations where I absolutely love having one.
If both partners are getting ready separately, two photographers can cover those moments simultaneously without adding extra time to the beginning of your day.
During your ceremony, one photographer can capture the wider scene and waterfront setting while the other focuses on expressions, reactions and smaller moments. During portraits, having two perspectives can also give you completely different images from the exact same moment.

It’s particularly useful for larger weddings or couples who place a high priority on candid photographs of their guests.
My team and I are always looking at the day as a complete story. Sometimes having another photographer means we can tell more of that story without asking you to do anything differently.

My biggest advice would actually be to take advantage of the location rather than overcomplicating it.
You have waterfront scenery, gardens, modern architecture, accommodations and downtown Victoria all available from one home base. You don’t need five portrait locations to create variety.
Instead, build some breathing room into your timeline.
Consider getting ready at the hotel. Decide whether a first look makes sense for you. Choose one downtown photo location if those iconic Victoria photographs matter to you. Then go enjoy your wedding.
Especially if you’re planning a destination wedding in Victoria, your gallery shouldn’t come at the expense of experiencing the reason everyone travelled here in the first place.
If you want a waterfront Vancouver Island wedding that feels elevated but still leaves room for personality, connection and a really fun celebration, I think Inn at Laurel Point is worth considering.
It’s especially appealing for couples coming from Vancouver or elsewhere in Canada who want their guests to experience Victoria without making the wedding weekend logistically complicated.
From a Victoria BC Wedding Photographer’s perspective, I love that we’re able to create so much visual variety while keeping the focus where it belongs: on you, your people and what the day actually felt like.
Give me beautiful light, people you can’t stop laughing with, somewhere near the ocean and enough time in the schedule to let things happen naturally, and I’m very happy.

If you’re planning your wedding from Vancouver or farther away, you don’t have to figure out Vancouver Island from scratch.
I’m based in Victoria and photograph and film weddings throughout Vancouver Island with my team. Beyond showing up with cameras, I help my couples plan timelines, choose photo locations and work through the little logistical decisions that can make the day feel significantly easier.
