Campbell River Wedding Photographer
For Katrina & Keegan at Haig Brown House
I've been a Campbell River Photographer for years now, but this was the first wedding I photographed at Haig Brown House in Campbell River. I love that this wedding venue is all outside surrounded by gardens, old growth trees, and a river. First, let me take you to the start: the bride and groom getting ready.
While the entire wedding party gets ready, it often sets the tone for the wedding. This time calls for maximum pampering. The morning has the potential to be the most relaxing time of your day before things really take off, and emotions run high right before the wedding ceremony.
After getting ready, some couples choose to have an intimate first look and get their wedding photographer to take wedding party photos. This couple had a wedding ceremony earlier in the day which left plenty of time for photos after the ceremony. Therefore, they chose a traditional first look which when the groom sees the bride for the first time as she walks down the isle.
As you can see, the groom's reaction was nothing short of passionate. I have displayed this next batch of Campbell River Wedding Photos (below) in a way that tells the story of the ceremony. It was pure happiness.
Haig Brown Heritage House Wedding Venue
You know that feeling of excitement, happiness, and love? When something so fantastic has happened that you have to share those moments with someone and hold everyone you love? I think that's how everyone feels right after the ceremony, when the nerves have lifted and the newly weds can enjoy time with the people they care about most.
As you can see Haig-Brown Heritage House, in Campbell River, British Columbia, is a stunning location for a wedding. The house in the background of those last few images is a historic family home that sits on the banks of the Campbell River and is surrounded by tranquil gardens.
It also has amazing greenery for photos all over the property. For example...
Campbell River Wedding Photography with Family
One of the many reasons I love this Campbell River wedding venue location is because it has tall, thick trees which create a shady area. If you anyone is getting married on a hot day, this is the perfect area to gather and also take photos.
With the sun at its peak in the middle of the day, it can be challenging to take wedding photos for three reasons:
There are shadows on everyone's faces
It is bright, therefore most people are squinting or blinking more than usual
Some people can get sweaty in the heat and not feel comfortable in the pictures
AKA this shady area is perfect.
I make sure to take family photos quickly. It is important that you have wedding photography images with all your family members (if that's what you want anyways). But I don't want to take up too much time and keep family members waiting around. After all, we need time for my favourite part - the wedding party photos.

I'm glad these two were comfortable getting right on the river. I have about 50 images of them walking on those rocks, hugging, and kissing - all while I was trying not to completely fall in the water as I was almost waist deep in the river.
All in all, this Campbell River Wedding day was wonderful. I'm thankful I could be a part of it, and thank you Katrina and Keegan for this review!
"Hayley did our engagement and wedding photos. She is incredible, and her talent to use raw light is what made us gravitate towards her! We wanted photos that made us proud and to see all that we missed on our big day. I would not hesitate to recommend Hayley, her professionalism and positive attitude make her so easy to work with! She has an eye for photography and you're missing out if you don’t get photos done by her at least once. If you need a level headed photographer who listens to your needs and achieves your wants, Hayley your girl! Lastly, your video work made me cry it was so lovely, and I rarely cry. It’s just amazing to have these things to hold onto when they're done well. You were so understanding both times we worked together your attitude really reflects the love you put into your profession and for that we are grateful."
